Went out to Cahuilla Creek MX to get some laps in before next week’s TWMX/Muscle Milk race.   The track was a lot of fun and is a fast layout.  I took my personal photographer Sandra with me and she grabbed some shots of me today as well as a few others mixed in.  It is nice to be on the other side of the lens once in a while, even for an old and slow rider like me.  Check out the gallery below to see the photos.

The new Transworld Motocross/Muscle Milk racing kicked off their first series at Perris Raceway with the opening round of the 2012 Winter Cup.  Strong breezes greeted the racers throughout the day but had no effect on the racing action.  Perris Raceway is a great track for racing and had multiple lines through several corners forcing the racers to battle for the inside line through the straights.  The race brought in over 450 entries with many large classes and lots of battles on the track.   For more information on the races, results, schedules and general info, go to http://www.twmxrs.com.

The final round of the outdoor nationals were at Pala Raceway and it was an excellent day of racing.   Two championships were still on the line even though Dean Wilson had clinched the 250 class.  The 450 title was claimed by Ryan Villopoto while the WMX #1 plate was awarded to Ashley Fiolek.   Check out the gallery below for photos from the day.

The second half of the outdoor MX season started off at Millville, MN at the Spring Creek MX track.   The day before the national brought a deluge of rain with over 5″ falling in the areas surrounding the track.  Once the rain stopped the humidity and heat crept in.  The high heat index along with the mud took its toll on the riders and bikes in the morning practice and first motos, but the day was filled with great racing in all three classes.  The big story of the day was Chad Reed’s crash, which by now everyone has seen or heard about.  To be pitched off the bike in mid-air, fall 25′ back to the ground at race speed, it was a miracle that he got up, cleared his head and breathing and kickstarted his bike to overcome a big deficit to the rest of the field and eventually finish 14th.   The day was one in which legends of the sport are made.   Complete race coverage can be found at the Transworld MX Race Report.  To see photos from the practice and racing, scroll down to the gallery below.

X Racing (Vet X) kicked off their summer series at Cahuilla Creek MX on the holiday weekend.   There were over 280 entries on the holiday weekend with many families camping out for the weekend.  The weather for the weekend was not the normal scorching temperatures though with a mixed variety of clouds, sun, haze, sprinkes of rain and a little wind on and off to make things interesting.  There was a ton of great racing in most every class as well.  The series looks to be off to a great start.   Check out some highlights in the gallery below, and for the full gallery of all photos, you can click here for the complete gallery from the day.

The Ranch built a very close replica of the famed Carlsbad Raceway at their facility.  Marc Peters did an excellent job of recreating the sections of the track and was very reminiscent of the days of riding the long gone Carlsbad track.  Many of the sections were so close that if it wasn’t for the immediate surroundings, you would think you were riding the original.   The whole facility has a variety of tracks including kids’ tracks, vet track, the Carlsbad replica and a main track.   Check out their website at theranchanzaca.com for more information.   Check out the panoramic photo below of the facility showing the main and Carlsbad tracks, as well as the photo gallery of riders on the Carlsbad track.

Made a return trip to Moto Habitat this weekend to ride their amateur supercross track.  The track is a tight and toned down track with bowl turns, whoops and many safe jumps.   The dirt at the track hold moisture very well on the days I have been there and has held up well during the day.  Several friends and I put in laps at the track as well as several other people.   For more info about the track, see their website http://www.motohabitat.com.   Sandra joined me at the track today and took lots of photos of the riders that were there.  See photos from the day below. 

Finally got back on the bike today after nearly 5 months off.   All healed up and ready to go with a fresh bike.  Chaney Ranch was incredible today with a very small crowd.  The track stayed great all morning but did start to get rough as the afternoon came.   Check out the photos below for some of the riders on the track today.
