Anaheim 2 Supercross

The second Anaheim SX of 2011 is in the books. This year they took one round away from Anaheim and replaced it with the race at Dodger Stadium. This was yet another great race in the 250 class with three riders battling for the win and Ken Roczen getting his first podium position. The 450 class wasn’t quite as close as the previous rounds, but still continues to be a great season. 2011 Anaheim 1 SX

The 2011 supercross season kicked off at Anaheim this weekend, much to the anticipation of fans everywhere. The Supercross class is loaded deep with talent this year with several riders capable of taking a win. The top 5 finishers in the class at the end of the night wasn’t a big surprise, but the order of finish was. James Stewart was heavily favored, but ended in third behind Ryan Villopoto and Ryan Dungey. Fourth was Trey Canard followed by Chad Reed. This years series looks to be one of the most competitive in years, I’m looking forward to seeing it unfold. See the gallery for photos from the pits, daytime practice and the races.

Anaheim 2 SX

Anaheim 2 went off with excellent weather after the weeklong deluge of rain in Southern California. Dirt Wurx did an excellent job of keeping the track covered and then spending many hours overnight and in the morning prior to the event preparing the track. The night’s racing was excellent, with Ryan Dungey taking his second win of the season to maintain the points lead. Should be an exciting series this year! 2010 Anaheim 1 SX

The new year of supercross kicked off in Anaheim with a huge surprise in the Supercross class. While there are plenty of very talented riders, two riders expected to be on top ended up missing in the main even as Josh Grant DNS after struggling through the evening with injuries and Chad Reed pulling out after damaging his front wheel on the start. Ryan Dungey made a huge statement in his opening race in the premier class, leading 17 laps before James Stewart caught him and passed for the lead. On the final lap, Dungey made a last ditch attempt at the win, battling with Stewart but making a mistake late in the lap exiting a corner and ending up second at the finish.
