The new Transworld Motocross/Muscle Milk racing kicked off their first series at Perris Raceway with the opening round of the 2012 Winter Cup.  Strong breezes greeted the racers throughout the day but had no effect on the racing action.  Perris Raceway is a great track for racing and had multiple lines through several corners forcing the racers to battle for the inside line through the straights.  The race brought in over 450 entries with many large classes and lots of battles on the track.   For more information on the races, results, schedules and general info, go to http://www.twmxrs.com.

Perris Raceway had an open practice day for everyone to bring out their new Christmas presents and test them out.  There was a good sized crowd there but it seemed to be a very clean day of riding with very few people crashing.  The track was incredible condition and you can’t beat the Southern California weather for it being late December.   I took a lot of photos today, check out the gallery below to see them.

The 2011 supercross season kicked off at Anaheim this weekend, much to the anticipation of fans everywhere.  The Supercross class is loaded deep with talent this year with several riders capable of taking a win.   The top 5 finishers in the class at the end of the night wasn’t a big surprise, but the order of finish was.   James Stewart was heavily favored, but ended in third behind Ryan Villopoto and Ryan Dungey.   Fourth was Trey Canard followed by Chad Reed.   This years series looks to be one of the most competitive in years, I’m looking forward to seeing it unfold.   See the gallery for photos from the pits, daytime practice and the races.

Day two of A Day in the Dirt races went off smooth with a few different riders making appearances.  The track again held up great after overnight rain soaked the area.   Andrew Short and Josh Strang put on some great racing today in the Coup de Grace race.   Short held off Strang through the race despite Strang never far behind.   Great racing and a successful weekend for the event.

Just over a year after Ross Maeda’s accident, a benefit was held to raise money for his continued recovery from his injuries.  Starwest Motocross donated their track for the day for the benefit ride, while a host of other sponsors and donors added raffle prizes, silent auction items and other merchandise to help raise money for the cause.   Several pro riders donated autographed gear and several others joined in the festivities of the day, putting in a lot of laps on the track.   Some of the pros in attendence included Nate Adams, Brett Metcalf, Josh Hansen, Ivan Tedesco, Nick Paluzzi and several others, while Team Suzuki showed a big presence in the pits with their race transporter.   The Starwest track was in excellent condition for the start of the day and the track was consistently busy throughout the day.    For more information and to track the progress of Ross’ recovery, please visit Rossiproject.com.  See the gallery below for photos from the day.

Took the day off work and headed to the hills to Barona Oaks MX in East County San Diego.   The spring weather was incredible and the track was in great shape with a small crowd.   I met up with some of the Transworld MX crew as they did some testing and an interview of Ron Lechien.  

The second round of the AMA nationals had even closer racing than the previous week’s opener in Glen Helen.   Both the 450 and 250 classes had tight racing up front, and even the WMA women had a battle for the win in the second race.   Check out the gallery below of some of the pictures from Hangtown.  Also, don’t forget to check out Transworld MX for full race reports.
