The second half of the outdoor MX season started off at Millville, MN at the Spring Creek MX track.   The day before the national brought a deluge of rain with over 5″ falling in the areas surrounding the track.  Once the rain stopped the humidity and heat crept in.  The high heat index along with the mud took its toll on the riders and bikes in the morning practice and first motos, but the day was filled with great racing in all three classes.  The big story of the day was Chad Reed’s crash, which by now everyone has seen or heard about.  To be pitched off the bike in mid-air, fall 25′ back to the ground at race speed, it was a miracle that he got up, cleared his head and breathing and kickstarted his bike to overcome a big deficit to the rest of the field and eventually finish 14th.   The day was one in which legends of the sport are made.   Complete race coverage can be found at the Transworld MX Race Report.  To see photos from the practice and racing, scroll down to the gallery below.

The inaugural supercross at Dodger Stadium was loaded with great racing.   It was also loaded with other first time events such as the first SX Lites win by Cole Seely for the Troy Lee Designs race team as well as the first time in many years that the top 5 riders battled so hard for the win.   There were multiple race leaders and plenty of jockeying for postion through the entire race, as well as Chad Reed going for laying on the ground in dead last at the start to finishing 7th at the end.  For more information on the racing action, go to the Transworld MX Race Report to read up on the blow by blow action.

The 2011 supercross season kicked off at Anaheim this weekend, much to the anticipation of fans everywhere.  The Supercross class is loaded deep with talent this year with several riders capable of taking a win.   The top 5 finishers in the class at the end of the night wasn’t a big surprise, but the order of finish was.   James Stewart was heavily favored, but ended in third behind Ryan Villopoto and Ryan Dungey.   Fourth was Trey Canard followed by Chad Reed.   This years series looks to be one of the most competitive in years, I’m looking forward to seeing it unfold.   See the gallery for photos from the pits, daytime practice and the races.

The outdoor MX national series kicked off at the Hangtown track in Rancho Cordova, CA.   An excellent day of racing with strong classes in both the 250 and 450 classes.   It was great seeing Eli Tomac win a moto and take his first overall win to start off his professional career.   Lots of great photos from the races, this is a big gallery.   Also, don’t forget to check out the coverage of the race on Transworld Motocross.

The second round of the AMA nationals had even closer racing than the previous week’s opener in Glen Helen.   Both the 450 and 250 classes had tight racing up front, and even the WMA women had a battle for the win in the second race.   Check out the gallery below of some of the pictures from Hangtown.  Also, don’t forget to check out Transworld MX for full race reports.
